How Can blood In Stool After Taking Amoxicillin Be Treated?
A couple nights ago I coughed up some blood at night and now I just had a bloody stool for the first time. I was at the doctor s yesterday and he diagnosed me with a sinus infection/ allergies that I had been trying to treat myself for quite awhile. He put me on amoxicillin twice daily and over the counter Allegra. The antibiotic is very large and pink in color could this be causing the red stool. Also I am on high blood pressure and cholesterol medicine and have an area under my upper neck that arose last night and makes it painful to swallow. The doctor thought it might be the eustachian tube as that ear was a bit cloudy. He thinks it will go away with the antibiotics. So I am worried about something else going on.
Blood can be due to gastrointestinal disorder. But it is least likely from Amoxicillin but can't be ruled out as it can trigger gut inflammation in some patients. Do one thing, stop its use and wait for 3 days, if bleeding continues you definitely need to report emergency room for evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
